Identifying the Different Types of Landing Pages On 26 Nov 2012 by Fahad Muhammad
The statement “Variety is the Spice of Life” isn’t only meant to torture middle school students by making them write essays on it, the statement holds great value to it, mostly because it’s true. Nothing in this world is identical, and this is what makes everything fun and interesting.
Your old uncle Tom might annoy the hell out of you, repeating everything again and again, dragging you to the Mini Mart every chance he gets, but when he’s not there you aren’t able to enjoy your sweet neighbor Sally who comes over with her world famous chicken Parmesan.
Yes, everything has variety in this world; and this list doesn’t exclude Landing Pages.
However, before we delve into the various types of Landing Pages, it is first important to take a lot at the purpose of setting up Landing Pages.
The Basic Purpose of Setting Up Landing Pages
Landing Pages are set up basically to inform users about the product or service that you are selling. However, the ultimate purpose of all Landing Pages is to persuade your visitors to sign up for the product or service that you’re offering them by clicking on your CTA button.
Now, let’s move onto the types.
Different Types of Landing Pages
Though, there are several types of Landing Pages based on their design and purpose, broadly, however, Landing Pages can be roped into the following 4 types.
1. Click through Landing Pages
This is one of the simplest types of Landing Pages, their entire purpose is to quickly inform visitors about your offer and get them to click through to your product or service via your CTA button.
On a Click through Landing Page one generally finds benefits of why visitors should buy your product and the context of use of your

They are more in-depth than Click through Landing Pages because their intent is to gather personal data from the visitors (hence the word lead capture!). Which is why, these pages are more elaborately designed.
There is absolutely no room for any exits on Lead Capture Landing Pages, so, there should never be any navigation links on this page.
The contact forms on Lead Capture Pages are also carefully designed.
3. Viral Landing Pages
The name says it all for Viral Landing Pages, these landing pages are designed so that they can go viral which is why there should be a lot of social media integration on them.
Another thing to take care of in Viral Landing Pages is brevity of content. The content, for that matter every element of Viral Landing Pages needs to be carefully designed so that it gets multiple “likes” and “tweets”.
Think minimal when thinking viral!
4. Mobile Landing Pages
They are pages that are especially designed keeping in mind the small screens of mobile, iPads- all the latest technology that you find your visitors glued to these days.
With Mobile Landing Pages the basic thing that you need to be wary of is keeping your visitors’ interest alive and this is done by stripping down your page to the bare essentials.
There’s very little to no copy on a Mobile Landing Page just a snazzy headline, a colorful graphic and a clear and attractive CTA button.
Which type of Landing Page do you want to set up?
